Electrical System Reliability Work Underway in East Bangor

Thursday, May 27, 2021

Bangor, Maine- Versant Power crews are working to increase customer reliability with system upgrades in East Bangor.

Work is underway on Garland Street and surrounding streets including: Summit Avenue, Howard Street, Pearl Street, Fern Street, Maple Street, Parkview Avenue, Birch Street, Fruit Street, and Bellevue Avenue. The project began in early May and is intended to be complete at the end of July.

This project will move customers to updated equipment and includes replacing over sixty utility poles, over 15,000 feet of bare wire and 36,000 feet of covered conductor wire. While the work is being completed, animal guards and cutouts will also be installed. Versant Power is taking these measures to increase electrical system reliability in East Bangor.

"Along with installing these new materials, we have done over 3,000 feet of tree trim work to cut down on any incidental tree contact on lines that could cause outages in this area," said Versant Power Superintendent of Line and Meter Operations Ryan Fysh.

Customers may experience Planned Outages at times during this construction. Versant Power will share updates on the schedule of this work on the Planned Maintenance page of our website, from our Twitter account, and through Public Service Announcements sent to local media partners in an effort to give residents as much notice as possible.

We appreciate customers' patience while we work to improve the reliability of your service.
