Versant Power prepares for winter storm arriving early Wednesday

Release Date:  01-08-2024

Maine – Versant Power is preparing for impacts of a storm expected to bring snow, rain and high winds to coastal and central Maine beginning early Wednesday morning. Wind gusts over 60mph are expected throughout the day, especially along the coast.

“We have internal and external line and tree crews ready to respond to storm damage Wednesday,” said Warren Morgan, storm manager for Versant Power. “With the potential for high winds to bring down trees and lines, we’re asking customers to prepare for a multi-day restoration.”

To prepare for dangerous travel conditions and power outages:

  • If you must travel, watch for downed trees, branches or power lines, and water pooling in roadways.
  • Ensure you have a supply of fresh water.
  • When using a generator or alternate heating source, please always follow all manufacturers safety guidelines.
  • Stock up on easy-to-make nonperishable food items.
  • Charge your cellphone and other electronic devices.
  • Prepare flashlights and a battery-operated radio in case you must shelter in place until it is safe to travel.

The public is reminded to never drive over a downed line, touch a downed power line or anything in contact with it. Lines can become energized at any time - you can’t tell just from looking if a line has power. Do not attempt to remove any downed limbs, trees or debris that come in contact with power lines.

You can fill out a Power Issue Report Form at versantpower.com or call our Customer Contact Center at 1-855-363-7211 or 207-973-2000. Customers can also report an outage directly from their Online Services account.
