Investing in Reliability in Deblois

Sometimes the most important reliability projects are the ones customers never see.

In Deblois, we're modernizing an electrical facility that has served the region for decades—transforming what began as a temporary solution into a permanent, more resilient part of our transmission system.

The site was originally built in the 1980s to connect a private power generator to the electric grid. Although that generation project was short-lived, the facility later took on a new role as electricity demand grew in the area, particularly from local blueberry processing operations. To meet that need quickly, a transformer was installed as a temporary solution.

Over time, that "temporary" installation became an essential part of serving the region.

Today, continued growth in electrical demand and the addition of new distributed energy resources have made it necessary to replace that aging equipment with a larger, modern transformer and permanent infrastructure designed to support the area's needs well into the future.

The project includes a new transformer, permanent foundations, steel structures, and upgraded equipment that will strengthen the local electric system while maintaining flexibility for future reliability improvements.

By investing in modern infrastructure today, we're helping ensure customers in Washington County continue to receive safe, reliable electric service as the region grows and evolves.
