Versant invested more than $550,000 in northern and eastern Maine during 2025
Bangor and Presque Isle, ME - In 2025, Versant Power invested more than $550,000 in communities across its service territory through its charitable giving and sponsorships programs, supporting a variety of organizations and initiatives focusing on energy affordability, basic needs, local events, and employee-selected programs.
Since 2023, in partnership with Aroostook County Action Program, Penquis Community Action Program, and Downeast Community Partners, Versant Power has successfully matched $200,000 in donations through Power Match, providing electricity bill credits averaging $375 per household to more than 800 customers in need within the communities it serves.
“We are proud of our commitment to the communities we serve, work, and live in. Giving back and supporting community initiatives is a fundamental part of our company culture and values,” said Versant Power President John Flynn

In 2025, Versant team members volunteered more than 1,300 hours at 34 nonprofit organizations through the Power Partners employee volunteer and fundraising program. To encourage and recognize the team’s volunteer efforts and community involvement, the company provided more than $19,000 to the groups supported by employees.
Versant Power employees continued to support the Heart of Maine United Way and United Way of Aroostook through their “Hitting the Mark” annual campaign, and the company matched their fundraising totals.
Other organizations supported by the company in 2025 were Good Shepherd Food Bank, Purple Iris Foundation, Children’s Museum of Aroostook County, Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s Music and Wellness Program, 211 Maine, Healthy Acadia, and the Meals on Wheels programs at Eastern Area Agency on Aging and Aroostook Agency on Aging.

The company also provided support for programs addressing critical community needs, including services for individuals experiencing homelessness, domestic violence response and prevention initiatives, and organizations dedicated to supporting veterans. These efforts reflect Versant Power’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community well-being and assisting the region’s most vulnerable residents.
Versant sponsored more than 90 programs and events this year, championing education, safety, and economic development. Funding in 2025 also supported scholarship programs at local community colleges, the University of Maine, and Husson University.
Sponsorships included more than 75 economic development initiatives, such as community fairs and festivals. The Can-Am Sled Dog Races in St. John Valley, the Hike for the Homeless in Bangor, Free Ice Fishing Derby in Madawaska, The Crown of Maine Balloon Festival in Presque Isle, Milbridge Days, the Cole Land Transportation Museum’s Transportation Festival, Bangor Pride Celebration, and the holiday light parades and events in Bangor, Bar Harbor, and Presque Isle were just some of the recipients.
